Christiane Amanpour Becomes News Announcer on ABC

Posted on: August 3, 2010

It has been reported that Christiane Amanpour from ABC has been invited to join political talk hosts at “This Week”.

Christiane agreed to replace George Stephanopoulos on that show. It is not a secret that “This Week” that is aired on Sundays competes with “Fox News Sunday,” CBS’ “Face the Nation,” and NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
It has become obvious that she was aggressively inquisitive and felt absolutely comfortable in her new position.

There were such guests on her first broadcast as Robert Gates, Secretary of Defense, and Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House. Both these interviews were not live – they were pretaped in advance.

The second part of the program was rather traditional: a familiar to everyone trio provided the audience with the round-table analysis. That trio included economist Paul Krugman, political strategist Donna Brazile, journalist George Will, together with Taliban expert Ahmed Rashid and Pakistani journalist.

We all know that this news program has its roots in Washington’s Newseum. However, “This Week” is newly billed. It depicts the situation in the whole world and then focuses on America’s domestic issues.

Just for information: 52-year-old Amanpour was born in Iran and has always specialized in international news. She had spent about 25 years at CNN before she was surprisingly hired by ABC.
