Brittany Murphy’s toxicology reports have revealed that the actress died because of multiple medications for the treatment of a “cold or other respiratory infection” in her blood system.

The “Clueless” star passed away Dec 20 after suffering a cardiac arrest at her Hollywood Hills home.

The documents read: “Multiple medications were present in the blood, with elevated levels of hydrocodone, acetaminophen, and chlorpheniramine. L-methamphetamine was also present.”

The 32-year-old actress had been taking a number of prescription and over-the-counter medications in the weeks leading up to her death to treat what she believed was a bout of influenza, Contactmusic.com reported.

The report further says: “It should be noted that the pattern of use of these medications suggests treatment of symptoms of a cold or other respiratory infection. Acetaminophen and hydrocodone are components of Vicodin. Chlorpheniramine is the active ingredient in some over-the-counter medications. L-methamphetamine is a component of some inhalers.

“The possible adverse physiological effects of elevated levels of these medications cannot be discounted, especially in her weakened state. Therefore, the manner of death is accidental.”

A Los Angeles coroner ruled the death of actress Brittany Murphy to be accidental and caused by drug intoxication, pneumonia and iron deficiency anemia, People.com reported Thursday.

Murphy, 32, who starred in Clueless, was found unresponsive in her home Dec 20 by her husband and her mother Sharon.

Her family has disputed reports that she died from an illegal drug overdose, saying that she was taking prescription medication and painkillers for laryngitis, abdominal pain and flu in the days before her death.

Simon Monjack, husband of late actress Brittany Murphy, is planning to file a lawsuit against Warner Bros in connection with his wife’s fatal heart attack Dec 20, according to media reports.

Monjack claims in the interview with The Daily Beast that Murphy’s death was due to stress caused by Warner Bros’ alleged decision last month to cancel a contract for a voice role in the sequel to 2006’s animated musical “Happy Feet”.

A month earlier, Murphy had been allegedly fired from the set of the upcoming independent thriller “The Caller” and replaced by “Twilight” star Rachelle Lefevre, the Entertainment Weekly reported on its website Thursday.

“Any claim that Warner Bros. Pictures was somehow responsible for Brittany Murphy’s tragic death is demonstrably false, reprehensible, and defamatory,” a Warner Bros representative said in a statement.

“Despite press reports to the contrary, Warner Bros. Pictures and Ms. Murphy never entered into any deal for “Happy Feet 2″, and thus, there was no contract to cancel,” he said.

When reached for comment, a representative for Monjack said he “will not be discussing his potential lawsuit further at this time,” according to the weekly.

Late actress Brittany Murphy”s grieving husband Simon Monjack considered committing suicide following the actress” death.

Monjack”s mother Linda revealed that the tragedy has devastated Monjack.

“Simon is exactly as you would expect someone to be who has just lost the woman he loved,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

She added: “Some days he wants to kill himself, and other days he seems to be coping better. He is distraught. I speak to him everyday, and he is often in tears.”

Linda explained why Monjack initially did not want an autopsy of the actress to be conducted.

She said: “He didn”t want the autopsy (in the beginning) for the reason that anybody wouldn”t want his nearest and dearest to be cut open. He realised pretty quickly that he had to agree to it, and he”s waiting for the results. He wants to know what happened.”

However, Monjack has developed a strong bond with the ”Eight Mile” actress” mother Sharon.

Linda added: “He”s very strong, and he”s got Sharon. They”re very close, and they”re keeping each other going. Simon”s life has been shattered. He needs closure to be able to get on with it.

“They truly loved each other. I don”t think they ever spent more than a few days apart. They were going to start a family this year.”

Recollecting the day before Murphy”s death on 20 December due to a cardiac arrest, she said: “Everything sounded normal and fine. It was a three-way conversation, with her laughing and talking to me in the background… She seemed in good spirits.”
